So we are currently 2 days out from leaving for Bangladesh. Well at least that is for Calvin and myself. Shamir is already there with family and friends, Joy, our trip leader, is in India for TEEAL, and Hill is enjoying the New Year in Europe!
As the time comes closer to our project, I start to realize how much is left to do. Of course, I tend to wait until the last minute to finalize packing, print my itinerary, and finalize my blogs and the rest of my responsibilities. I have no idea why I wait so long, perhaps due to anxiety, or because I get distracted too easily. My favorite theory is that I am just ready for the next adventure and to start early merely detracts from the exciting buzz of nerves and adrenaline.
With less than 2 days to go this blog is up and running and I have started to read through my guide book. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have a pile of clothes to pack and some new phrases I learned in Bengali. Can’t forget to also prep some questions and get prepared for the research we will be conducting. It’s time to start considering how TEEAL can be marketed in Bangladesh. Of course politically, the city will be interesting when we arrive. After a to day strike being promoted by the Jamaat-e-Islami, it will be insightful to see how this will affect the city and the schools. It will also be a perceptive look into the politics of Bangladesh and the effects of what is supposed to be peaceful protests.
I am excited to begin our work and I am sure the rest of the team is as well.
